Xbox has announced that it will be the first platform to get Discord voice chat. This comes after PlayStation announced an exclusive Discord partnership (which allowed Discord to show which games you were playing on the console).
This allows Xbox gamers on both the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles to chat directly with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls, which is great for those playing cross play with PC or PlayStation gamers, or just wanting to chat to friends directly on a Discord voice call.
This is launching today for Xbox Insiders and will be available for everyone else soon. To enable Discord chats on your Xbox, you just need to connect your Discord and Xbox s by scanning a QR code on your Xbox. From there, you’ll then be able to voice calls on your Discord app and transfer them to your Xbox using the app, so it’s not a super seamless experience, but no doubt is a huge win for those that like to play games cross play.
