A Grand Theft Auto 4 Remaster Could Be Coming This Year

Yes please!

Grand Theft Auto 6 isn’t coming until next year, but we might be able to finally play Grand Theft Auto 4 again as it’s reported that Rockstar is set to release the game on modern consoles later this year.

Niko’s journey has been locked to the PS3/Xbox 360 generation, but it’s said taht Rockstar could be working to bring the game to modern platforms later this year. The platforms weren’t specific but it’s speculated that this could be PS5, Xbox Series X|S in addition to the Nintendo Switch and potentially last-gen consoles as well.

Interestingly enough, Rockstar recently took down the LP mod which brought the world of Liberty City to Grand Theft Auto 5 which furthers speculation about the return of Liberty City in GTA 4.

It’s also said that a Max Payne 3 port could come following the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes as well, so it looks like we’re in for a load of Rockstar goodness after a dry spell over the last decade or so.

Grand Theft Auto 4 released in 2008 and took place in Liberty City and it also had two story expansions in The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release on May 26, 2026, which definitely opens up a spot for GTA this holiday without eating into that audience.
