It took right up until the week before launch but as of today EB Games is no longer taking launch day pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2.
As of the website listing today and a post put out on social media, any pre-orders that are placed for the Nintendo Switch 2 from today onwards will be for the second shipment which is slated to hit stores in late June rather than June 5th.
This goes for both consoles including the standard console as well as the Mario Kart World bundle (which had sold out for a day or so at EB but came back and has been up ever since).
As far as I can tell, every other retailer appears to still have launch stock available, but it does seem as though if you want to pickup a Nintendo Switch 2 next Thursday, that you should probably get a pre-order in just to be safe.
The pre-order situation in Australia has been totally different to that in other countries such as Japan and the US where pre-orders sold out instantly with Nintendo advising that they wouldn’t have enough stock to meet demand at launch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th in Australia alongside Mario Kart World, Welcome Tour, The Legend of Zelda BOTW/TOTK upgrades and more. You can read our full preview of the console HERE.
