Cyberpunk 2077’s Sequel Is Expected To Feature A Second Playable City

It's "Chicago gone wrong," according to Cyberpunk's creator.

Speaking at an event, Mike Pondsmith, founder of R. Talsorian Games and author to Cyberpunk’s tabletop version, was questioned about the Project Orion, which is expected to be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

Pondsmith kept coy on details, but did explain that he isn’t as intimately involved with the sequel as he was the original, although he is kept in the loop with regards to how it’s progressing. He let slip that Night City is expected to run as a key location in the follow-up, but that there’s be a second city. He didn’t elaborate any further than that, however.

“I’m not as involved directly, but I see the scripts,” Pondsmith confirmed. “I spent a lot of time talking to one of the environment guys, and he was explaining how the new place—because there’s another city that we visit.

“And I’m not telling you anymore than that, but there’s another city that we visit. Night City is still there.”

The game designer also went on to claim that the city “doesn’t feel like Blade Runner, it feels more like Chicago gone wrong,” which is certainly interesting to note.

The sequel, which is being developed by the core team behind the original as well as its expansion Phantom Liberty, recently moved its development to Boston, so perhaps it’ll do an even better job of authentically capturing the Americana of the original.
