“We’ve partnered with other tech retailers and sellers around Australia to bring you even more of the latest tech and home entertainment. JB Hi-Fi Marketplace lets you buy a curated range of products directly from approved third-party sellers.”
Not long after we discovered that your local JB Hi-Fi will soon sell manga and comic books, the ubiquitous Aussie tech and entertainment retailer has spun up yet another new venture with JB Hi-Fi Marketplace. 52l11
Taking a page out of the books of other big retailers like Woolies/Big W, JB Hi-Fi Marketplace is essentially a way for JB to sell products it doesn’t actually stock, through third party sellers, on its own website. This opens the door for a lot of smaller categories you wouldn’t normally see at JB, as well as things like Steam Decks that aren’t officially available here.
The program looks like it’s only just kicked off, so at the time of writing there are just a handful sellers listed on the landing page for JB Hi-Fi Marketplace, but we’d expect to see more shortly. Right now you can find things like scooters, 12V smart TVs designed for campervans, camera gear and some other bits.
The real question is what advantage you might have for buying through JB and not just direct through one of the sellers. Unfortunately, this won’t mean you can access JB’s after-sales or services like installation on these items – according to an FAQ page any returns for change of mind or faults will go through the reseller, with JB simply acting as a point of . You also can’t use JB Perks promotional vouchers or buy/pay for them in-store, but you can use JB gift cards – which might be worth something to some folks.
Here’s what the JB Hi-Fi Marketplace web page says:
